Beacon and Oneida, New York (PRWEB) September 24, 2015
Transfinder Corp. is pleased to sponsor the New York Association for Pupil Transportation’s (NYAPT) upcoming workshops on Transportation Aid which will include discussions on how school districts across New York State can now receive state aid for GPS purchases.
In response to advocacy from NYAPT and others, New York State recently approved providing state aid for school districts’ GPS purchases. In response to this latest development, NYAPT will include information on GPS as a part of the overall workshop. NYAPT is holding two workshops in October, with former school business official Ronald Finch addressing questions districts may have on such topics as:
- What does transportation aid cover and when it is received
- Eligible Expenditures for transportation aid
- Transportation aid ratio and the “net” transportation aid ratio
The first workshop is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 16 at Beacon High School, located at 101 Matteawan Road.
The second workshop is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Oneida City Schools’ transportation facility, located at 1136 Freedom Drive.
“We’re very excited about these Transportation Aid Workshops,” said Peter Mannella, NYAPT executive director. “Not only are you going to be able to learn about standard transportation aid from a real expert on the subject, but we’re also going to be talking about the recent addition of GPS being eligible for state aid for the first time. And we’re pleased to have trusted partner Transfinder to provide critical information that districts should know when choosing a GPS System.”
What are “bread crumbs?” What are events? What questions should districts be asking GPS vendors? These are just some of the topics Transfinder will be covering, as well as how to use the data to highlight both internally and externally how transportation departments are becoming more efficient and meeting key performance indicators.
At the conclusion of both workshops, Transfinder’s mini-workshops, “Navigating the GPS Landscape,” will be offered from noon to 12:30 p.m. to provide an overview on GPS and help districts understand how GPS technology can help make their operations even more efficient and their routes even safer.
“The next generation of route planning, safety and efficiency is route planning compared with actual GPS data,” said Antonio Civitella, president and CEO of Transfinder. “There is more data that will be available so districts can adjust planned routes so they are more aligned more closely with reality.”
Civitella praised NYAPT for holding the workshops to address Transportation Aid as well as the latest state aid development.
“We’re fortunate to have an organization like NYAPT to help us learn more about this funding source,” he said.
