Schenectady, NY – April 4, 2014 – Transfinder Corp. is hosting as many as 150 guests, including federal, state and local officials, during a reception on April 9 to kick off the summit on “Strengthening Cities, Communities & Homes.”
Transfinder President & CEO Antonio Civitella will be joined by local mayors Gary McCarthy (Schenectady), Kathy Sheehan (Albany), Ann Thane (Amsterdam), Joanne Yepsen (Saratoga) and Lou Rosamilia (Troy) to welcome representatives from several federal, state and local agencies attending the one-day summit on April 10. More than 300 people are expected to attend the summit being held in Proctors.
“We are honored to host this reception at our new headquarters in the heart of downtown Schenectady,” Civitella said. “The focus of this summit, strengthening our cities and communities, is an issue that is very close to my heart. So many of our cities have very rich histories and I believe they can have even brighter futures. Schenectady is an example of that.”
Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy said the rebirth of Schenectady has been the result of strong public-private partnerships. The mayor said Schenectady provides a visual aid for attendees of what can happen to a region when stakeholders pool their resources and work together for a common good. Two tours of the city of Schenectady are scheduled during breaks in the day.
“We are very excited to host this important summit in Schenectady,” McCarthy said. “Schenectady is the home of invention. We are looking forward to see what new ideas come out of this summit that can transform our cities, communities and homes. Our goal is that by strengthening these partnerships, we will position ourselves to accelerate the ongoing renewal of our downtowns, individual communities and the older neighborhoods in our cities and towns.”
The summit features key leaders from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD), U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the New York State Commissioner of Homes and Community Renewal, as well as more than a dozen agencies, organizations and companies.
