New Features in Routefinder Pro offer GPS Integration and Unlimited Shuttle Runs
Schenectady, NY – February 23, 2009 – Transfinder, a national leader in transportation management solutions for school districts, today announced the release of version 8.0 of its flagship product, Routefinder Pro. Regarded by many as the easiest and most intuitive methodologies for transportation routing, scheduling, and planning for school districts, Routefinder Pro is currently used by more than 1,000 school districts in 47 states to manage district-wide transportation and communication.
New features in version 8.0 include:
- Seamless GPS Integration through a new analytical tool called Busfinder, which displays real time or historical GPS data simultaneously with planned routes on the same map while in routing mode. Compatible with most of the leading GPS units currently in use, Busfinder enables school districts to get the most benefits from their investment in GPS hardware.
- An Innovative GeoInfo Toolbox that enables school transportation officials to select a point, walkout, radius, region, or user-drawn area on the map, and then view all the data associated with the selected locale.
- A New Report Library provides a wide variety of customized reports created for clients of Transfinder that can easily be adapted to other school districts. Clients can preview selected reports, download the templates into their system, and their data will automatically populate the selected reports.
- Unlimited Shuttle Runs enables transportation officials to expedite student assignments and easily monitor student whereabouts during the school day.
Rich Gallagher, director of transportation for the Bay Shore Union Free School District in New York, said, “The new Unlimited Shuttle Runs in version 8.0 of Routefinder Pro allows us to accurately account for a student’s transportation for the entire school day. At Bay Shore UFSD we are responsible for shuttling about 175 students to morning, mid-day, and afternoon assignments and locations every day. Now we have a clear picture of the students’ assignments, schedules, and whereabouts. This saves us considerable time and effort and improves our ability to receive the proper aid.”
Commenting on GPS integration in version 8.0 of Routefinder Pro, Jeff Oehm of Ashley Oehm Consulting in Colorado, said, “I am impressed with the ability to see what drivers are actually doing versus the planned routes. It offers school districts a good way to shave minutes or miles from a route. For example, cutting just 5-10 minutes off each bus route over the course of 180 days saves a school district thousands of dollars each year. This is significant for school districts in Colorado and across the country, especially in today’s challenging economy.”
Antonio Civitella, president & CEO of Transfinder, said, “We pride ourselves in listening to our customers and incorporating features into our products and solutions that respond to their changing needs. This latest version of Routefinder Pro exemplifies this commitment, as all of the new features in our latest release respond to the expressed needs of our customers.”
